Drive a Senior was founded on the principle that our senior communities lead happier, healthier lives when they “become old in place.” But how does one continue to live at home without viable transportation?
Family members may be far-away and sometimes busy.
Public transportation is not intended for individual interest and can require physical staying power some older adults don’t have.
Taxi service can be expensive on a set income.
Dive a Senior matches volunteer drivers with seniors needing a means to get around. We currently provide more than 30,000 rides and transport more than 2500 senior’s citizens.
Volunteer Transportation Services (or VTS) was created in 2013 to fill the transportation space for older elderly, veterans and senior adults with permanent or temporary disabilities. VTS is operated by Centralina Connection INC., a non-profit organization whose mission is to help residents throughout the nine county Centralina Region.
